AMC Museum @ Dover AFB
A few years ago I spent a week in Delaware visiting a friend, I had a great time there hanging out with my friend and his wife, eating good food, and seeing the sights. We also got in some range time at a local gun range. My friend took me to see the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base.
I’ve always been interested in military planes, and the AMCM didn’t disappoint. It has a big hanger for inside displays that include a C-47A Skytrain and the B-17 “Sleepy Time Gal”, as well as displays of other planes, plane engines, Air Force hall of heroes, exhibits on the history of Dover AFB, and a really cool flight simulator. A large area outside the hanger is set aside for some of the larger planes on exhibit, some of which you can actually go inside of. Admission is free and the staff there are very helpful and knowledgeable, they also give tours. Each of the planes on display have a history of being used in important operations and roles. I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the Dover area.
